12 DAY LODGE AND TENTED SAFARI

Day 1: Arrive Entebbe and transfer to our guest house. This beautiful old colonial-style private lodge has excellent gardens and is the perfect base while in Entebbe.

Day 2: Drive to Kibale, overlooking Lake Nyinambuga - a small crater lake with excellent vistas of the Ruwenzori Mountains and great hikes.
Our lodge consists of individual cottages with their own private veranda and has an ambience all of it's own.

Day 3: Visit Kibale Forest National Park, prime Uganda rainforest and home to a remarkable 13 primate species including the very rare Red Colobus and L'Hoest's monkey and a chance to track Kibale's remarkable chimps. A network of shady forest trails and a multitude of bird species make this a very special place.

Day 4: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. A cruise on Lake Edward, up the fabulous Kazinga Channel and the waterfalls, where you'll expect to see buffalo, hundreds of hippo, some crocs, birds galore, some elephants and maybe even lion.

Days 5-6: From open savannah to rainforest, dense papyrus swamps and crater lakes and Lake Edward, the Queen Elizabeth National Park has one of the highest bio-diversities of any game park in the world. The famous tree-climbing lions and, probably the largest herds of buffalo in Africa occur here, as well as elephant, Uganda kob, crocs and hippos.
Two full days of game-viewing in this excellent wildlife area with the Ruwenzori Mountains in the distance and overnights at an exclusive tented camp.

Day 7: Drive along mountain roads to Bwindi Impenetrable National reserve. Over 90 species of mammals, including 9 primate species and the giant forest hog all occur here.

Days 8-9: The highlight of our safari - with gorilla treks for the next two days. There is more than one gorilla family in this area and it's likely that we will trek to different families over two days. The degree of difficulty of these treks is not very high. An ability to walk at a moderate pace for a couple of hours is really all that is needed. Sometimes the gorilla families may be very close to the roads in which case a hike of a few minutes is even possible.

Day 10: Drive to Lake Mburo National Park.
This acacia woodland park is the best place to see the gigantic eland and also has prolific buffalo, warthog, topi, zebra, impala and Defassa waterbuck.

Day 11: Return to Entebbe, through spectacular scenery via Kampala markets and travel by boat to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee sanctuary. Ngamba Island is located on Lake Victoria and is a project of the Chimpanzees Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust. There is an amazing, hands-on "chimp experience", with an optional forest walk with researchers and the chimps.

Day 12: Return to Entebbe.
